Here are the rules for the 5th Annual ViewFromVegas.com NCAA Football Contest. The first three years the contest was held completely in the ViewFromVegas.com Forum and then last year started at another site and then moved to this site. We're excited to run it ourselves this whole season on this site.
Contestants pick 7 games against the contest line. We’re using the lines of the William Hill College Pick'em contest offered at their Nevada sports books, but that contest runs 10 weeks and we'll provide our own lines in the following two weeks and run this contest through Saturday, Nov. 24 (and also including Friday games that final weekend). Our season-long winner will receive 2 nights hotel in Las Vegas, dinner for 2 with yours truly, and show tickets for 2 (maybe with yours truly if I like the show you pick).
The weekly prize is still to be determined. This will require a 7-0 record (which I'm expecting to happen every week anyway with the contest continuing to grow) and the tiebreaker will be the most points your 7 teams cover by. If someone wins the weekly prize more than once, we will offer an alternate prize such as dinner with yours truly, a poker set, or a ViewFromVegas.com shirt.
To make your plays, go to MAKE PICKS and select NCAA and then the current week (lines will be posted by Wednesday night each week). THE DEADLINE FOR PLAYS TO BE SUBMITTED IS 9 A.M. PACIFIC TIME SATURDAY (important note: the William Hill contest has a rule where you can put in plays until the kickoff of the first game selected, but we want to give people a chance to see the leaders' selections and concensus while the games are being played). This deadline will be 9 a.m. Friday in the final week of the contest. The site will lock out anyone from making selections after that time and you'll be able to see everyone else's plays by going to the VIEW ALL PICKS under the MAKE PICKS tab.
For those worrying about missing the deadline, your plays may be posted ahead of time and then edited up until the deadline...just go back to MAKE PICKS and go through the process again.
I think that takes care of most of it…but here’s some more rules so everything is clear:
No entry fee
One entry per person (no fair entering under multiple usernames...this contest isn't that big, you will be found out)
7 plays per week in college contest (Saturday games only, except the final week on Thanksgiving weekend)
1 contest point per winning selection
The college contest runs 12 weeks
People entering after the first week's games will be eligible for weekly prizes as well as season-long prizes if they're good enough to overcome that handicap (winning percentage will not be a tiebreaker; only points earned by the rules stated above).
